Making Time Together Count Without Planning a Whole Day
Shared time does not need an itinerary. It needs to already be in the diary, and to not require either of you to organise it.
The reason plans fall through is rarely a lack of interest. It is that someone has to be the person who organises it, and that person is usually tired.
Small and booked beats big and hypothetical
An hour that is already arranged will happen. A free weekend you both intend to make something of will, more often than not, become laundry.
Take turns choosing
Alternating who picks removes the negotiation, which is the part that quietly drains the enthusiasm out of the whole idea.
The best shared plans are the ones neither of you has to think about again until they arrive.
Let it be unremarkable
Time together does not have to be an occasion to be worth having. Two people in the same room, doing something slow, is usually the whole point.
